Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: The Classic Regency Romance - Now with Ultraviolent Zombie Mayhem! Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: The Classic Regency Romance - Now with Ultraviolent Zombie Mayhem! by Seth Grahame-Smith

My review

rating: 5 of 5 stars
I have never read Jane Austin or Pride and Prejudice and I'm really glad this book came out. Seth Grahame-Smith did a great job of combining the love of zombies with a classic book. He did it in a way where it didn't seem odd it actually seemed like the norm. It had very funny moments however the actual "zombie" portions were spaced out in a way where the reader could actually read the story of Elizabeth, and Mr Darcy, and Jane. The author did a nice job of only changing little original plot or characters to make it more zombie related. I have no idea if any hardcore Jane Austin fans will love or hate this book, but personally I thought it was a great read and just loved it.

So JB sent me this link about Jesus. I think everyone could use the laugh these days.

I assure you, it's worth your while to check out the craziness that is overzealousness. Also, JB and I have decided that we are that angry goat.

1/16/07 05:08 pm - Yeabutwhat?

So I have survived first day of classes with out too much trouble. The day did start off right with ASL 2 same time, same place, same amazing teacher so I know automatically this class will be fun. Then had my statistics class but I will get back to that one in a sec because that's the really interesting point of my day. My Video Field Production course seems like it will be ok, the teacher is nice but dull as all get out. However the projects seem like they will be fun and already have plans for my first one  (oh Kate how would you like to possibly do some fighty for it?) After classes I got to hand over the very last of my money to the school for a meal plan and books, so on the one hand I am now broke but on the other hand I will at least have food, and books to continue my education.

So as I said earlier my Statistics course was the real interesting point of my day. The class seems like it will be bearable and the teacher seems like a nice old man. However as the class ended we were about to leave when he mentions he has one last thing to tell us. He told us in all seriousness that he apologizes in advance for his other personality... apparently he has another personality only revered to as Ciggy He said that during class Ciggy likes too intentionally put false information on the board and if that happens please correct him and he will do his best to control Ciggy. Now we all thought he was joking but he had the most serious look on his face and said that he has been dealing with Ciggy for years and he used to have three personality's but he has been able to bring them down to two.

Soo essentially I am in a math class being taught by a man and his alter personality who likes to screw up his work and teach us wrong things....... this should be an interesting semester.

Oh yea update thing.

Classes are rushed but good handed in paper and collage and did my presentation on Samurai Jack, so hopefully though's will yield adequate grades. At my shoot yesterday someone mentioned that midterms were soon and I wanted to runaway and hide in a dark corner because of it. Work wise first show that will be put up on podcast airs tomorrow, I am very excited but confident in all the work that myself my co producer and all our shooter/editors minions put in.

Ok question to all Firefly Aficionados.

I am trying to put together a Wash costume for generic Halloween purposes. It is a relatively simple costume however it requires just the right touches. For example I could go off and get any Hawaiian shirt I come across but I wanted peoples opinion on if there is any specific type of shirt I should go and get. The big thing I am really looking for is right type of pants and shoes, Suggestions any one please?

Thanks!

p.s. Lauren I have two questions for you that relate to Ghosts and Gravestones give me a call when you can.

Lets seeeee

Last night was fun met up with [info]spookyhandle and introduced her to the goodness that is LOST. Yup after the end of the 1st episode was the familiar WTF look on her face that we have all had, so she is right on her way. So we have started watching Doctor Who, Lost, now all that’s left is 24 and we can seriously start trying to catch up. While fun we both agree that being able to only see each other for a few hours will just not do it, but hey that’s what weekends are for.

Today

The interview for the athletics program went quite well, I am really getting the hang of not only making these interviews but also conducting them too. Finished that off and ran to Concept Development. We spent the period giving background info about ourselves and how that could help motivate us to write, essentially I just talked about how "unique" my family life is and that was really it.

At Media Criticism and Theory we are now looking at psychoanalysis. For today we applied that to Slasher films and she kept talking about how all psycho killers are just using killing as a metaphor for pent up sexual frustration and how whenever there is the one girl who manages to survive the killer she is able to maculate herself and emasculate the killer..... Yea I really don’t know what she is talking about but she really dose like talking about masculinity, feminism and phallic objects. Annnnyways we were watching clips of slasher movies (Original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Friday the 13th, Halloween, and Scream).

This makes me think back to the first time I saw Scream and it freaked me out so much. The thought of it just being some psycho running around and killing people terrified me so much that I was afraid to go out at night for a bit. However now seeing it again it doesn’t bother me as much and the part where the girl try’s to escape through the doggy door is just ridiculous, was watching that and thinking well she had a good start with chucking the beer bottles at him instead of being dumb and trying to escape why not finish him off I saw plenty of items in that Garage that you could defend your self with no problem oh well she was dumb and dumb girls are an essential part to horror cinema.

When we were watching the final fight in Scream where the girl is fighting off the two guys, one girl in class apparently had a seizure. We stopped the footage and she was shaking and wasn’t responding, two seconds later she came too said she wasn’t feeling well and was brought to the bathroom. When we all left she said she was fine and getting checked out by EMT, however the teacher was pretty shook up and vows to never screen slasher movies again in class.

So now I am currently finishing up exes HW, finishing this paper I started last night, and getting in contact with people for future interviews while getting all the segments done and ready for Friday. On top of all of that I have to make sure to send out my letter to Kevin and at some point do laundry. I don’t have any slasher movies at my apt but I did have Sleepy Hallow as the next best thing so I am playing that in the background right now.

And yup that’s life right now.

So Six Flags yesterday was amazing will have many many pictures and icons up sometime soon!

7/24/06 10:20 pm - I know im late but...

I had to give my two cents about the experience that was KAF 2006. I have only been a part of Pastimes for two years now but already I feel so connected to a group of people that makes this feel so much more then just rehearsal for a show but more like family. I really have enjoyed the roles I have been given and the chance to get out and express that little itch of acting I feel every now and again. This year really blew me away, think about it people we told a two day story to over hundreds of people in the blaring heat with armor, and each time was able to convey such emotion that we drew everyone in to the world of Arthur and the land of Camelot. I really enjoyed my role this year I felt like it has been my most complex character so far and had a great time playing out his role and his goals over the two days. Actually being able to convey that my character was not "evil" per say but just believed that the choices he made was for a better society. I know all thanks and memories were talked about yesterday but I have to throw mine in.

First off I really have to thank [info]whaleomlette for giving me the chance to play such an amazing role that was Sagramore, it was so fun portraying his reasons for betrayal and the slow change from good to evil.

Thanks to [info]coscaram and [info]fightguy for giving me super cool fights that I really enjoyed even with the extra challenge of armor, especially a big thanks for letting me play with the Warhammer it was very hard to give up in the end.

A big ole thanks to [info]empheliath for not only making me look badass, but also providing a way for me to have some ventilation while looking bad ass huzzah for gussets!

I really want to thank [info]dragonkisanth for being my interactive partner in crime. I had so much fun going around terrorizing kids and adults alike. It was a real pleasure working with you and I hope we can do it again in Pirate Faire.

Thanks to the Dark Lord himself [info]triplehdm for allowing me also have amazing fun interacting. I always knew playing evil was fun but hanging around with you Dan made it hysterical, everything from grossing out the queen to getting me a wife for the majority of the day!

Thanks to my fight partners [info]crossbonestyle and [info]danielgreyman for a kickass time in the way of fighty. Lauren my love I was so happy for us to fight for the first time and I think we did Lara proud. Rich it was great to pound on you silly with a warhammer but also it was just great to work with you in general there are no real reasons needed you just rock!

Big thanks to [info]eroika for video tapeing scene 1 and the Good Humors for me now this years DVD will be complete.

And finally a huge thanks to [info]ketala; not only did you give me and Lauren a great fight but trusted us with it, for providing us with tons of quotes that go along this show forever (Fully Explode!), but just in general for being the amazing caring person that you are I am truly lucky to know you and to be able to call you friend.

And of course thanks to everyone for pulling together truly a memorable show that I am proud to be a part of.

PHEW ok now another thing to mention, with the end of KAF 2006 begins the slow but rewarding process that is the KING ARTHUR FAIRE 2006 DVD! Thanks to my brother and his friend (and Jess) I was able to get both days worth of scenes, interactive events, and various indie acts. So I now must begin the long process of converting, digitizing, and editing. This year it will be slightly different; instead of my brother tapeing all the performances he brought a friend and this year the entire show will have a two shot set up! So while it will take a long time to go through it all and we may not see it until Christmas time again, I do believe its going to come out great. I have already looked at some of the footage and it looks good very very good, and I have already have ideas in my head for layouts and goodies (all ready a trailer is laid out in my head and I am thinking of more easter eggs). So all I ask is for your patience and I will try to have a video memory of a marvelous show out as soon as possible.

And I believe that is about it I would like to say this is now my time to relax but I would be lying. With KAF done I am now in rehearsal for Dan's next show Demonslayer, and soon Pirate faire starts up as well. The summer is quickly coming to a close and as it gets closer I am going to be much busier with Theatre, Travel, and work for school but damn it I know I am going to enjoy every moment of it.

Ok this was a long entry I rest now.

........ OH yea today I got my new piercing with Lauren an Industrial on my right ear, its swollen and red but I really do love it. Ok now I am done for serious this time.
